Effects of nanobiosilica from rice husk ash application on rice growth, productivity, and milling quality

Abstract Application of different forms silicon sources may influence rice production and quality. It is believed that properties nanosized particles differ significantly from those the original bulk material. This study aimed to investigate effects application silica nanoparticles extracted husk ash, called nanobiosilica (NBS), on growth, productivity, milling quality as compared ash (RHA), sodium silicate solution (SDS), two control treatments. NBS was produced by sol-gel method. The five treatments were arranged a randomized complete block design with four replicates. (20-50nm) SDS highest stem strength, lodging tolerance, number productive tillers, grain per-clump, productivity (7.30-7.32t/ha). better yield performances than RHA, initial did not brown milled yield. However, percentage head observed following RHA results suggested RH its paddy field could be viable strategy for supporting sustainable production, producing rice, increasing benefit processors/farmers, reducing environmental issues underutilized husk.
